Halloween captions come in two flavors: puns that were funny in 2014, and "Happy Halloween 🎃." The photos deserve better. You spent three weeks on the costume or an evening on the pumpkin; the caption can take thirty seconds.

Post that night or the next morning. Halloween photos on November 3 get a fraction of the response. The timing matters more for this holiday than almost any other.

Costume photos want the costume named. "In character" is fine; "In character as the 2009 version of myself" is a caption people reply to.

Make the night a carousel. Costume, party, pumpkin, the 1 a.m. photo. One photo dump with a line from the list beats four separate posts.
